The Client, Messrs ANG Global Investment Limited approached ATO Architects Limited in September 2008 to undertake a study in of the remains of the Airport Transit Hotel in Monrovia, Liberia destroyed during the Liberia Civil War with a view to restoring the structure.

Our proposal was for the renovation of the Transit Hotel attached to Liberia’s Robert’s International Airport. Additional floors were provided over the footprint of the existing building to raise overall building height to 6 floors providing an additional 80 luxury bedrooms to bring the total number to 120 Bedrooms.

The image of flight is carried as a general theme through all the buildings of the hotel. The butter fly roof used for the gate house is also retained for the entrance canopy as well as the roofs of the 2 wings of luxury rooms.

The proposal took advantage of the large area surrounding the site to create sweeping views of lush green lawns punctuated at intervals by date palm trees and colourful flower gardens.

We have just completed stage one of this project.
