The Sheraton Hotel Abuja is a well-known landmark in terms of its structure and the quality of service it offers. It was built in 1982 (35 years ago) and is located on Ladi Kwali Way, Maitama. It was constructed in a modern style on 12 floors, with the first two floors accommodating social and recreation facilities including bars and restaurants. A member of the Sheraton Hotels and Resorts Chain which was bought by Starwood Hotels and Resorts in 1998, it therefore must maintain an international standard of hospitality and service. The building was last renovated in 2003 (14 years ago) though rooms and floors have been renovated piecemeal since then, including a floor of Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) rooms which cater to members of Starwood Loyalty Rewards Schemes. Located as it is in the Nation’s Capital, the Sheraton Hotel and Towers is in high demand and is frequently fully booked. It is with the aim of maintaining this standard that the present refurbishment is being undertaken.
